Zéketé-Zéketé 2e Episode

Released in 1983 by the influential Congolese soukous group Zaiko Langa Langa, Zéketé-Zéketé 2e Episode stands as a significant artifact of the band's evolution during a period of peak creative output. This record emerged from the vibrant Kinshasa music scene, reflecting the group’s transition into a more polished, high-energy sound that defined the mid-80s Zairean dance music aesthetic. It serves as a testament to the band’s ability to refine their rhythmic structures while maintaining the melodic inventiveness that earned them a massive regional following.

The production on Sonogravure highlights the technical intricacies of the ensemble’s guitar arrangements and vocal harmonies, which were hallmark features of their identity. Designed to capture the kinetic energy of their live performances, the record prioritizes a clean, percussive mix that became standard for the genre during this era. While the individual visual designers of the sleeve remain largely uncredited in international archives, the artwork typically adheres to the bold, stylistic portraiture common to Kinshasa record labels of the time, emphasizing the band members' status as cultural icons.
