Ancient Gear Engineer

The Ancient Gear Engineer was introduced as part of the Machine Reactor Structure Deck, released by Konami in 2017. This deck was designed to revitalize the Ancient Gear archetype, a series of Earth-attribute Machine-type monsters that debuted years earlier in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX era. Thematically centered around industrial, clockwork aesthetics, these cards focus on aggressive playstyles that prevent the opponent from activating spells or traps during the attack phase.

The artwork follows the characteristic design language of the Ancient Gear series, featuring a mechanical, bronze-toned humanoid figure adorned with visible gears and pipes. As a common card in the Structure Deck, it serves as a utility piece, allowing players to destroy spell or trap cards on the field when it conducts an attack. Its design aims to balance the archetype's high-level boss monsters with lower-level support that maintains consistent pressure on the opponent's backrow.
