Assault Spirits

Assault Spirits was released as a common trap card in the 2010 Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game expansion set, The Shining Darkness. This set was notable for introducing new support for the Blackwing archetype and the infernity theme, which significantly impacted the competitive landscape of the time. The card was designed to support the Assault Mode engine, a specialized mechanic focused on upgrading high-level synchro monsters into more powerful forms.

The card features artwork consistent with the aesthetic of the Assault Mode sub-series, emphasizing a dark, high-intensity visual style meant to convey a sense of volatile combat. As a common rarity card within a set dominated by high-value holographic cards, it was intended primarily as accessible utility for players building themed decks around the Assault Mode mechanic. It was received by players as a situational support option, primarily serving as a niche tactical tool rather than a centerpiece of competitive meta play.
