Ballista of Rampart Smashing

The Ballista of Rampart Smashing was originally released as part of the Magic Ruler set in 2002 before being reprinted in Dark Revelation Volume 3 in 2005. As a common rarity spell card, it was designed during the early era of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game to provide players with a situational tool for destroying defense position monsters. The card reflects the game's foundational mechanics, which often focused on direct board interaction and the tactical placement of monsters to withstand attacks.

The card's design and illustration carry the fantasy aesthetic common to the game's initial card pool, depicting a heavy siege engine intended to dismantle enemy fortifications. While it never rose to prominence in competitive tournament play due to the existence of more efficient removal options, the card remains a notable piece for collectors focusing on the comprehensive Dark Revelation compilation sets, which were released to provide players with accessible versions of previously released cards from the game's first few years.
