Malice Dispersion

Malice Dispersion was originally released in the 2004 Japanese set Soul of the Duelist before being reprinted in the English Dark Revelation Volume 3 expansion in 2006. As a common rarity card, it served as a budget-friendly utility spell intended to provide players with a way to remove face-up spell or trap cards from the field by discarding a card from their hand, reflecting the game's evolving focus on resource management and backrow removal during the mid-2000s.

The card's design features the artwork of a mysterious, shrouded figure manipulating energy, a common visual motif in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game meant to evoke the arcane nature of spell cards. Within the context of the Dark Revelation sets, which functioned as massive compilation volumes, this card was included to provide structural support for competitive decks of the era, though it remained a niche choice compared to more versatile options like Mystical Space Typhoon.
