Birthright

Birthright was released in early 2007 as part of the Strike of Neos expansion set for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. This set was heavily influenced by the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX animated series, focusing on the Neo-Spacian archetypes and the Elemental HERO support cards. As a trap card, it functioned as a classic revival mechanic, allowing players to special summon a Normal Monster from their graveyard, a strategic utility that mirrored the era's focus on maintaining board presence.

The card's design features the aesthetic sensibilities of Konami's Japanese illustrators, who often employed high-contrast fantasy art to distinguish trap cards from monster and spell cards. Like many cards of the Strike of Neos era, Birthright was released as a super-rare, identifiable by its holographic foil name. While it was not a centerpiece of competitive meta play, it became a staple in casual decks built around Normal Monster themes or specific archetypes like Elemental HEROes, fitting well within the mid-2000s design philosophy of supporting specific card types to create synergy.
