Blast Held by a Tribute

Blast Held by a Tribute was released in 2004 as part of the Dark Crisis booster set for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. This set is widely recognized for introducing pivotal mechanical shifts to the game, drawing heavy inspiration from the storylines found in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Duelist manga. As an Ultra Rare card in the English-language print, it represented the higher end of the set's pull rates, designed to reward players with versatile defensive utility during the game's competitive growth period.

The card's design features artwork consistent with the aesthetic direction established by Konami’s internal studios, characterized by the aggressive, high-contrast style typical of early-2000s card game illustration. Functionally, it was engineered as a reactionary trap card designed to punish opponents for using their own monsters as tributes, reflecting the complex, cat-and-mouse nature of competitive play at the time. It remains a notable relic of the Dark Crisis era, favored by collectors for its role in the foundational history of the game's trap card mechanics.
