Blast Held by a Tribute

Blast Held by a Tribute was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in the Magician's Force expansion, released in 2003. As a trap card, it was designed to provide a tactical counter-play against tribute-summoned monsters, allowing a player to destroy the opponent's high-level monster and inflict damage equal to its attack power. This specific iteration hails from the 2005 Dark Revelation Volume 1 set, a comprehensive reprint series that brought together sought-after cards from earlier expansions into a single collection, making them more accessible to the wider competitive community.

The card's design and mechanical intent reflect the era's focus on high-risk, high-reward trap cards that punished aggressive plays. The artwork, which depicts a fiery, destructive burst triggered by a tribute summon, aligns with the theme of sacrificing a monster to unleash a sudden reversal of fortune. Upon its release, it was regarded as a powerful, albeit situational, defensive tool that rewarded players for anticipating their opponent's strategy, maintaining a reputation as a classic piece of early-to-mid 2000s gameplay utility.
