Blast Held by a Tribute

Blast Held by a Tribute was released as part of the Duel Terminal 5b set, which introduced advanced support for various archetypes in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. These cards were originally distributed through physical arcade cabinets in Japan that utilized specialized card-dispensing technology, creating a unique meta-gaming environment where physical cards could be integrated into digital play. The card is designed to serve as a reactionary trap, intended to punish opponents who rely on Tribute Summoning by destroying the summoned monster and dealing effect damage.

The illustrative style follows the thematic aesthetic of the Duel Terminal series, which often features gritty, action-oriented character designs set against tactical sci-fi backgrounds. The art depicts a dramatic explosion triggered during a ritualistic summon, capturing the high-stakes nature of the game’s combat mechanics. While it did not shift the competitive landscape significantly, it remains a notable piece for collectors focusing on the Duel Terminal era, representing the mid-cycle shift in card mechanics toward more aggressive disruption tools.
