Provenance

Where it came from

Boss Rush was originally released as an Ultra Rare card in the 2004 set Soul of the Duelist before being reprinted as a common in Dark Revelation Volume 4. Designed as a support card for the Machine-type Gemini monster 'Perfect Machine King,' it allows a player to immediately special summon another machine monster of the same name from the deck whenever one is destroyed. The card was crafted to help maintain field presence for a specific archetype that struggled with consistency, though it ultimately saw limited competitive play due to its restrictive activation requirements.

The card reflects a period in the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game where the developers were experimenting with specialized engine-building cards designed to reward players for running multiple copies of boss monsters. While the art direction fits the industrial, mechanical aesthetic typical of the era's machine-type support, it did not achieve significant notoriety among players or collectors, remaining a niche functional card within the broader Dark Revelation reprint series.
