Gateway to Dark World

Gateway to Dark World was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in the 2005 expansion set Elemental Energy. Designed as a support card for the Dark World archetype, it was crafted to facilitate the specific graveyard-based mechanics of the theme, which revolve around discarding cards to trigger powerful secondary effects. The card was created by Konami’s design team as part of their ongoing strategy to build synergistic deck types that rewarded players for tactical discarding.

The version from Dark Revelation Volume 4, labeled DR04-EN108, was released in 2007 as part of a reprint collection intended to make popular cards from previous expansions more accessible to the wider player base. Like many cards in the Dark Revelation series, this iteration retained its common rarity while featuring the updated card layout and refined text formatting standard for the era. It remains a notable piece for collectors focusing on the evolution of the Dark World deck throughout the game’s history.
