Cannon Soldier

Cannon Soldier was originally introduced in the Metal Raiders set, but this specific iteration was released in the 2006 Structure Deck: Machine Re-Volt. This deck was designed to capitalize on the popularity of Machine-type monsters, particularly the Gadget series, providing players with a cohesive deck structure that relied on swarming the field to facilitate tribute summons and effect damage.

The card was illustrated with a distinct industrial aesthetic, characteristic of early Yu-Gi-Oh! monster designs that blended military hardware with humanoid figures. While it became notorious in competitive play for its ability to enable infinite loop strategies—which eventually led to it being restricted or banned in various tournament formats—it remains a classic example of early card design that prioritized raw utility and archetype-specific synergy within the game's evolving meta.
