Ceasefire

Ceasefire was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in early 2002 as part of the Magic Ruler expansion. The card was designed as a strategic trap that forces all face-down defense position monsters to flip face-up, simultaneously dealing burn damage to the opponent based on the number of effect monsters on the field. This mechanic was intended to punish defensive playstyles and punish players for hoarding monsters without committing them to the board.

The Premium Gold: Return of the Bling release, from which this specific version originates, featured the card with a gold-bordered 'Gold Rare' aesthetic. By the time of this release in 2015, Ceasefire had become a staple of casual and side-deck play due to its ability to disrupt flip-effect strategies and provide late-game damage. Its design remains a classic example of early era trap cards that prioritize direct damage and field manipulation over the complex combo-oriented effects prevalent in later iterations of the game.
