Provenance

Where it came from

The Coffin Seller trap card was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in Dark Revelation Volume 1, a set designed to consolidate and reprint sought-after cards from the early stages of the game's expansion. Released to provide players with accessible versions of powerful older staples, this set helped stabilize the competitive landscape by ensuring key strategic tools remained available to both casual and tournament-level duelists.

The card features an illustration depicting a macabre merchant dealing in death, reflecting the darker aesthetic themes prevalent in the game's early spell and trap card art. Mechanically, it serves as a disruption tool intended to punish strategies that rely on moving cards from the graveyard, illustrating the game's focus on managing resources and graveyard utility during the transition into more complex meta-game environments.
