Royal Tribute

Royal Tribute was first introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in the 2004 expansion set Magician's Force. As a powerful Normal Spell card tied to the Gravekeeper's archetype, it was designed to disrupt an opponent's strategy by forcing them to discard all monsters from their hand, provided the player controlled a Gravekeeper's Necrovalley field spell. Its design reflects the thematic focus of the Gravekeeper's set, which revolves around graveyard control and the lore of pharaohs and tomb protectors.

The card was later reprinted in Dark Revelation Volume 1, a compilation set released in 2005 that brought together cards from several previous expansions to make them more accessible to players. While its rarity was downgraded to common in this release, the card remained a staple in competitive play for years due to its devastating impact on decks that rely on holding specific monsters in hand. It is widely regarded as a signature piece of control-based deck building from the mid-2000s era.
