Contract with Exodia

Contract with Exodia was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game to provide a specialized support mechanic for the Exodia archetype. Released as part of the Dark Revelation Volume 1 set, this spell card allows players to special summon Exodia Necross from their hand by tributing a monster on the field while specific conditions are met. The card was designed to translate the high-stakes, combo-heavy nature of the Exodia win condition into a more interactive gameplay experience, reflecting the franchise's shift toward complex monster-based strategies during the mid-2000s.

The artwork and mechanics for this card draw heavily from the iconic Exodia the Forbidden One lore, which has been a centerpiece of the Yu-Gi-Oh! narrative since its inception. As a common rarity card in the Dark Revelation reprint series, it served to make the Necross strategy accessible to a broader player base rather than reserving it for high-tier tournament staples. Its reception was largely centered on its utility in casual deck-building, where players sought to recreate the dramatic flair of the original manga and anime duels.
