Contract with the Abyss

Contract with the Abyss was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as a ritual spell card, serving as a staple for summoning specific ritual monsters within the game's expansive mechanical framework. The 2022 Tin of the Pharaoh's Gods, in which this ultra-rare version was reprinted, was designed as a retrospective collection celebrating the history of the franchise by compiling key cards from sets released throughout the preceding year, such as Battle of Chaos and Dimension Force.

The card’s artwork reflects the dark, gothic aesthetic frequently employed by the game's illustrators to convey the high-stakes nature of ritual summoning. As a staple in competitive and casual play alike, the design focuses on utility, providing players with a clear, concise effect that allows for the tactical deployment of powerful monsters. Its inclusion in the 2022 Mega-Tin series was intended to increase accessibility for players seeking to complete their decks with high-rarity, foil-treated versions of established cards.
