Divine Wrath

Divine Wrath was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game during the early 2000s, serving as a critical counter-trap card designed to challenge the dominance of monster effects in competitive play. Its inclusion in Dark Revelation Volume 3, released in 2006, served to consolidate popular cards from previous expansion sets into a single compilation, making highly functional staples more accessible to players after their initial, often elusive, printings.

The card features an illustration depicting a bolt of celestial energy descending to nullify an opponent's action, a visual language consistent with the game’s high-fantasy aesthetic. It was designed by the creative teams at Konami to provide a high-risk, high-reward tactical option: by requiring a discard as a cost, it forces players to balance their current resources against the necessity of negating a powerful effect. It remains a hallmark of strategic deck building, valued for its direct impact on the game's tempo.
