Floodgate Trap Hole

Floodgate Trap Hole was released as a promotional card in the Trials of the Pharaoh - Trials of the Kingdom set, designated as OPTP-EN001. This card was created during a period where Konami sought to expand the competitive viability of trap cards in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, specifically focusing on disruption mechanics that could effectively neutralize aggressive playstyles by forcing monster cards into face-down defense position.

The card's design follows the aesthetic standards of the era, utilizing the familiar iconography of the Trap Hole series. It was illustrated to convey a sense of entrapment and sudden mechanical intervention, consistent with the trap-based control strategies popularized by the game's evolving meta. Upon its release as a super-rare promotional item, it was well-received by players for its tactical utility in slowing down summon-heavy decks, ultimately becoming a staple utility card for competitive deck building.
