Floodgate Trap Hole

Floodgate Trap Hole was released in the 2016 expansion set The Dark Illusion, serving as a tactical addition to the long-standing Trap Hole series in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. Designed to address the increasing speed of modern play, the card functions as a powerful form of disruption that shifts an opponent's monster into face-down defense position, effectively neutralizing strategies that rely on monsters with high attack points or beneficial ignition effects.

The card’s artwork reflects the illustrative style characteristic of the era, focusing on the mechanical and slightly sinister aesthetics common to trap cards within the franchise. Upon its introduction, it was well-received by competitive players for its versatility, as it does not target, allowing it to bypass certain forms of protection. Its status as an ultra-rare card in the set further solidified its desirability among both collectors and those looking to optimize their deck efficiency during the mid-2010s competitive meta.
