Fushioh Richie

Fushioh Richie was released in the Pharaonic Guardian booster set in 2003, a period during which the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game was rapidly expanding its mechanical complexity in North America. This card is part of the early era of the game where design choices often leaned into unique, high-maintenance monster effects that rewarded strategic board control, reflecting the set's thematic focus on ancient Egyptian motifs and mystical archetypes.

The card's design features the distinct aesthetic of Kazuki Takahashi's original art style, capturing a menacing undead ruler motif that defined the darker, gothic side of the game's early monster designs. As an Ultra Rare in its initial print, it garnered interest among collectors for its striking gold-foil text and holographic finish, though its competitive viability remained limited due to the specific tribute and setup requirements necessary to utilize its effect.
