Gladiator Beast Darius

Gladiator Beast Darius was first introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in the 2008 set Gladiator's Assault, designed as a key support monster for the Gladiator Beast archetype. The archetype was conceptualized around a tag-out mechanic that simulates ancient combat, where monsters rotate in and out of the field to trigger strategic effects. Darius, modeled after a mid-ranking Roman soldier, was created to provide the deck with essential graveyard recursion, allowing players to bring back fallen allies to maintain field presence.

This specific printing, OP12-PT031, appeared in OTS Tournament Pack 12, a release distributed exclusively to Konami-official tournament stores to support local competitive play. As a common rarity reprint, it provided players with an accessible version of a utility-focused card. The design remains faithful to the original Japanese aesthetics, featuring a warrior clad in characteristic gladiator armor, reflecting the overarching theme of the set while serving as a reliable engine piece for competitive Gladiator Beast deck variants.
