Gravity Bind

Gravity Bind was first introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game during the early 2000s, gaining prominence as a staple trap card in control-oriented deck strategies. The card was included in the Ultimate Tournament Pack 1, which was distributed to participants of official Organized Play events. These tournament packs were specifically curated to reward competitive players with functional utility cards, often featuring unique card frames or rarity tiers distinct from standard booster sets.

The design of Gravity Bind centers on the concept of 'lockdown' mechanics, preventing monsters with high levels from attacking. Its mechanical intent was to stall the game, forcing opponents to find specific removal cards or utilize lower-level monsters to circumvent the restriction. As part of the early competitive card pool, it became a definitive example of defensive card design, frequently cited by players for its impact on shifting the game's pace during the mid-2000s meta.
