Provenance

Where it came from

Heavy Slump was released as part of the Mystic Fighters booster set in November 2019. It was designed as a strategic trap card intended to disrupt opponents who rely on drawing large quantities of cards in a single turn, forcing them to shuffle their hand back into the deck and draw a smaller amount as a penalty for over-extending.

The card’s artwork reflects the chaotic and often humorous tone of the Yu-Gi-Oh! universe, featuring an exaggerated, slumped-over character that visually represents the frustration of losing card advantage. Like many cards in the Mystic Fighters set, it was intended to bolster specific archetypes and provide utility against high-speed competitive decks, and it has since become a recognized niche tool for side-decking in various formats.
