Impcantation Talismandra debuted in the Cybernetic Horizon booster set, released in 2018. The Impcantation archetype was introduced to provide a dedicated support engine for Ritual Monster decks, addressing the inherent resource-intensity of the ritual summoning mechanic. The cards are characterized by their ability to special summon themselves from the hand to search for either ritual monsters or spells, creating a consistent foundation for players attempting to modernize older playstyles.

The visual design of the Impcantation series utilizes a gothic, macabre aesthetic, featuring porcelain-like, doll-esque figures with cracked features and stitched elements. These illustrations were developed by the Konami design team to evoke a sense of mystical artifice, aligning with the lore of ritual sacrifice.
