Karate Man

Karate Man was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in the Pharaoh's Servant expansion before being reprinted as part of the Dark Beginning 1 set in 2004. Dark Beginning 1 served as a compilation set designed to make older, essential, or iconic cards from the early days of the game more accessible to players who had joined during the burgeoning popularity of the Duel Monsters anime.

The card features an illustration of a martial artist, reflecting the game's early aesthetic focus on traditional combat tropes translated into fantasy monster archetypes. Designed with a simple effect that allows the monster to double its attack at the cost of being destroyed at the end of the turn, it functioned as a classic high-risk, high-reward card favored by players looking for quick offensive pressure in the game's nascent competitive environment.
