Larvae Moth

Larvae Moth was released as part of the Metal Raiders booster set in the early 2000s, serving as a foundational card in the infancy of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. It represents the early evolutionary mechanics of the game, requiring the player to maintain Petit Moth on the field while equipped with Cocoon of Evolution for several turns. This design reflected the complexity of the original anime and manga, where cards often mimicked the slow, transformative life cycles of real-world creatures.

The artwork for the card follows the distinct aesthetic established by Konami’s design team and illustrator Kazuki Takahashi’s original vision. As a common rarity card in the MRD set, it was widely accessible to players during the game's initial global expansion. While not a competitively viable card due to its difficult summoning requirements, it remains a nostalgic touchstone for collectors who remember the experimental card designs of the classic era.
