Launcher Spider

Launcher Spider was released in the Millennium Pack, a 2016 expansion set designed to celebrate the history of the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game by reissuing iconic cards from the original series. As a normal monster, it serves as a nostalgic callback to the early era of the game, where mechanical or insectoid designs were frequently used to populate the lower levels of competitive play. The card reflects the aesthetic shift of the late 1990s and early 2000s in Konami's card art, which favored bulky, industrial designs that blended biomechanical features with classic card tropes.

The card was originally introduced in the Metal Raiders booster set, mirroring the trend of Japanese conceptual artists creating monsters that leaned into the 'machine' sub-type. Its design, featuring a spider-like chassis integrated with artillery, was a common motif during the early years of the franchise, aiming to convey a sense of robotic menace. Because it remains a common rarity in the Millennium Pack, it is viewed by collectors primarily as a piece of history that preserves the look and feel of the game's earliest iterations rather than as a centerpiece of modern strategic play.
