Masked Sorcerer

Masked Sorcerer was released in the North American English edition of the Metal Raiders booster set in 2002. As one of the early sets in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, Metal Raiders expanded the card pool by introducing a variety of powerful effect monsters and traps that defined the game's nascent competitive meta. The card itself draws from the dark, occult-themed aesthetic that characterized many early Dark-attribute monsters, emphasizing a visual style inspired by fantasy and mystical archetypes.

The card was designed by the creative team at Konami to function as an early utility monster, featuring an effect that allows the player to draw a card upon dealing battle damage. While its low attack points often left it vulnerable on the field, its card-advantage ability made it a notable choice for players experimenting with deck thinning and resource management during the game's formative years. It remains a recognizable piece of nostalgia for collectors of the classic 2002 era of the game.
