Maxx "C"

Maxx 'C' was first introduced in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game during the 2011 Extreme Victory expansion. Designed as a high-impact hand trap, the card was intended to penalize opponents for performing multiple special summons in a single turn, fundamentally altering the competitive landscape by forcing players to choose between committing to their board or respecting the potential card advantage their opponent could draw. The card features a distinct, somewhat unsettling insectoid aesthetic consistent with the 'C' series of cards, which draw thematic inspiration from deep-sea creatures and biological infestations.

The inclusion of Maxx 'C' in the 2017 Machine Reactor Structure Deck, numbered SR03-EN020, served to reprint the highly sought-after utility card in a more accessible format for players. By this time, Maxx 'C' had become a staple in virtually every competitive deck, leading to significant debate within the community regarding its power level and influence on the game's tempo. While its presence in a Structure Deck provided players with an essential tool, the card's history remains defined by its frequent shifts between legal, limited, and forbidden status in various regional formats due to its sheer versatility.
