Metalfoes Orichalc

Metalfoes Orichalc debuted within the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as part of the 2017 Mega-Tin Mega Pack, which served as a compilation set featuring popular cards from previous expansion releases like The Dark Illusion and Invasion: Vengeance. The card belongs to the Metalfoes archetype, a group of psychic-type monsters introduced in 2016 characterized by their ability to destroy their own cards to set powerful spell and trap support directly from the deck. This thematic mechanic emphasized a high-speed, aggressive playstyle that defined the competitive meta during its peak.

The design of Metalfoes Orichalc follows the aesthetic of the Metalfoes fusion monsters, depicting a heavily armored warrior imbued with metallic energy. The card's artwork, consistent with the series' gritty, industrial-fantasy visual language, was produced by Konami’s internal design team as part of their ongoing efforts to blend traditional Japanese anime motifs with mechanical, futuristic elements. Upon its release in the 2017 Mega-Tin, the card was widely accessible as a common rarity, making it a staple tool for players seeking to utilize its piercing battle damage effect and ability to destroy cards when sent to the graveyard.
