Where it came from
Mirror Force was first released in the 1999 Japanese set Metal Raiders before making its way to the English TCG in 2002. As a trap card, it was designed to serve as a pivotal defensive reset, allowing a player to destroy all of their opponent's attack-position monsters when an attack was declared. Its ability to swing the momentum of a duel made it an instant staple in competitive play.
The card features artwork by the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise illustrators, depicting a reflective shield that redirects offensive energy back at the source. This visual design perfectly encapsulates the card’s tactical function. Upon its introduction, it was highly sought after for its power, cementing its status as one of the most iconic and recognizable trap cards in the history of the game.
