My Body as a Shield

My Body as a Shield was originally released in the early years of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, serving as a tactical defensive spell card designed to protect monsters from destruction effects. The Duel Terminal 5a printing, designated as DT05-EN041, arrived later as part of a specialized arcade-integrated set that brought previously established cards to a new generation of players through physical cards compatible with Japanese arcade cabinets.

The artwork features a protective energy barrier manifested to safeguard creatures on the field, reflecting the card's function of negating destruction-based abilities at the cost of life points. While it debuted as a Rare card in its initial English release, its inclusion in the Duel Terminal series updated its aesthetic through the unique, textured foil treatment characteristic of that line, which remained a popular iteration for collectors of the game's mechanics.
