My Body as a Shield

My Body as a Shield was first released in the early 2000s within the Pharaoh's Servant expansion. The card was designed as a strategic counter-spell, intended to protect a player's face-up monsters from destruction effects that would otherwise clear the field. Its artwork depicts a celestial, armored figure manifesting to intercept an incoming strike, reinforcing the theme of divine intervention and defensive posture characteristic of the game's early spell library.

The Legendary Collection 3: Yugi's World Mega Pack release, which includes this specific iteration, served as a comprehensive retrospective of cards associated with the protagonist Yugi Muto. This common printing maintained the functionality of the original design, ensuring that the card remained accessible to players looking to include it in their side decks or defensive-focused builds. It is regarded by the community as a quintessential piece of the game's utility history, valued for its timing-sensitive interaction with popular board-clearing effects.
