Number 17: Leviathan Dragon

Number 17: Leviathan Dragon was first introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as part of the Generation Force expansion in 2011, marking a significant evolution in gameplay mechanics with the debut of Xyz Summoning. As a Rank 3 monster, it was designed to showcase the aggressive potential of this new summoning style, allowing players to detach materials to boost its attack power significantly, albeit at the cost of being unable to attack the player directly.

The Battle Pack: Epic Dawn version, released in 2012, was specifically curated for the Sealed Play format, where players opened randomized packs to build decks on the spot. This reprint featured a distinct rare foil treatment, serving as a staple offensive card within the draft environment. The design, credited to the Konami card development team, leans into the oceanic theme of the Number monsters, emphasizing a balance between high-risk resource management and swift, heavy-hitting offensive maneuvers.
