Where it came from
Number 69: Heraldry Crest, known in its corrupted form as Heraldry Crest of Horror, debuted in the Alliance Insight booster set as a high-rarity Secret Rare. It is part of the Heraldic Beast archetype, a theme deeply rooted in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal anime series, specifically associated with the character Vetrix. The design draws heavy inspiration from mythological heraldry and crest iconography, reimagining classic heraldic imagery through a dark, mechanical lens to reflect the vengeful nature of its narrative source material.
The card was designed to serve as a formidable control piece within the Xyz Summoning mechanic, functioning as a thematic answer to other powerful monsters by copying their effects and names. Upon its release, it was received as a sophisticated tactical tool for players who enjoyed intricate graveyard manipulation. The holographic Secret Rare finish was selected to emphasize the supernatural and ethereal nature of the 'Number' series, making it a visually striking staple for both competitive duelists and dedicated collectors of the Zexal era.
