Obnoxious Celtic Guard

Obnoxious Celtic Guard was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as a promotional card included in the 2004 Collectible Tins. These tins were released to capitalize on the immense popularity of the franchise during its early 2000s peak, offering players a selection of booster packs alongside a guaranteed foil promotional card. The card features the distinct Secret Rare foiling characteristic of the era, which creates a diagonal holographic shimmer across the artwork.

The character design serves as a thematic evolution of the classic Celtic Guardian card, depicting the warrior in a more fortified, defensive stance. Mechanically, the card was designed with a specific utility—preventing attacks from monsters with high attack points—which made it a tactical staple in many defensive-minded decks of the period. Its reception among collectors remains positive, as it is viewed as a representative piece of the iconic aesthetic and design language utilized by Konami during the foundational years of the game.
