Obnoxious Celtic Guard

Obnoxious Celtic Guard was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as a tactical monster designed to counter high-attack threats. As an effect monster, its ability allows it to remain on the field against monsters with 1900 or more ATK, providing players with a defensive stall option that disrupts aggressive strategies common in early metagames. It was part of the early evolution of the game, where specific utility monsters were essential for controlling the pace of a duel.

The Dark Beginning 2 set served as a compilation release, designed to reprint key cards from previous expansions to make them more accessible to players. The inclusion of Obnoxious Celtic Guard in this set as an Ultra Rare highlighted its enduring popularity and utility within competitive deck building. The design, featuring the iconic armored warrior motif associated with the Celtic Guard archetype, reflects the fantasy aesthetic established by the series creators to appeal to both collectors and strategists.
