Paleozoic Leanchoilia

Paleozoic Leanchoilia was released as part of the OTS Tournament Pack 7 in 2017, a series of promotional card sets distributed exclusively through Official Tournament Stores to reward local players. The card belongs to the Paleozoic archetype, a group of cards inspired by prehistoric life forms from the Cambrian period, specifically the extinct arthropod Leanchoilia. These cards are noted for their unique gameplay mechanic, where they can be activated from the Graveyard as monsters after a trap card is resolved.

The design of the Paleozoic series pays homage to the Burgess Shale fossil fauna, utilizing distinct, organic-inspired artwork that deviates from the typical mechanical or fantasy aesthetic of the franchise. By transforming trap cards into creatures, the set was designed to challenge conventional resource management in the game. Upon its release, the Paleozoic archetype was well-received by competitive players for its resilience and ability to disrupt opponents, cementing its status as a staple for trap-focused strategies.
