Provenance

Where it came from

Pre-Preparation of Rites was introduced in the 2016 expansion Shining Victories, designed to provide critical support for Ritual Monster archetypes. As a spell card, it was engineered to bridge the gap between consistency and power by allowing players to add both a specific Ritual Spell and a Ritual Monster from their deck to their hand, streamlining the complex requirements of Ritual Summoning.

The card’s design reflects the strategic shift during the Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V era toward modular card effects that manage resource economy. By limiting its scope to Ritual monsters that specifically list another card in their text, the card balances high utility with a strict deck-building constraint, ultimately becoming a staple utility piece in competitive play for strategies relying on Ritual summons.
