Puppet Ritual

Puppet Ritual was released as part of the Number Hunters booster set, which debuted in the North American Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in July 2013. The set was designed to introduce cards associated with the Barian Emperors and specialized archetypes from the ZEXAL animated series, providing players with necessary support for specific deck strategies. This spell card specifically serves as the ritual searcher for the Gimmick Puppet archetype, a deck style characterized by its dark, mechanical aesthetic and focus on high-level monsters.

The card’s design aligns with the Gimmick Puppet theme, which draws visual inspiration from gothic puppetry and macabre stage performances. Illustrated to fit the dark fantasy aesthetic of the franchise, the artwork depicts the ritualistic summoning process central to the archetype's lore. Upon its release, the card was received as a functional necessity for Gimmick Puppet players, appreciated primarily for its utility in accelerating the summoning of the deck's boss monsters, rather than for its individual rarity or collectability.
