Rain Bozu

Rain Bozu was released as part of the Eternity Code booster set in 2020, representing a specific addition to the long-running Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. The card is designed as a pendulum monster, a mechanic introduced in the Arc-V era that allows cards to function as both creatures on the field and spell cards in the pendulum zone, reflecting the game's evolution toward complex, multi-functional card interactions.

The character design draws directly from the Japanese folklore figure Teru teru bozu, a small, handmade doll traditionally hung by windows to bring good weather or prevent rain. By translating this cultural icon into a fantasy monster, the illustrators leaned into the game's penchant for reimagining historical and mythological tropes, presenting the figure with a whimsical aesthetic that aligns with its function-based support role within the set's broader mechanical ecosystem.
