Provenance

Where it came from

Reckless Greed was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in 2003 as part of the Magician's Force expansion. Designed as a high-risk, high-reward trap card, its mechanic forces the player to skip their next two draw phases in exchange for drawing two cards immediately. This design philosophy emphasizes burst card advantage, forcing players to balance their current resources against long-term sustainability during a duel.

The version from Legendary Collection 3: Yugi's World, released in 2012, serves as a thematic reprint that bundles iconic cards from the series' history. The card's artwork features a stylized, greedy character surrounded by golden coins, reflecting the card's function of aggressive, impatient acquisition. Within the meta, this card has been frequently utilized in combo-heavy decks that prioritize reaching a win condition before the draw-phase penalty becomes a liability.
