Provenance

Where it came from

Reckless Greed was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in the Pharaoh's Servant expansion in 2002. The card was designed to offer players a high-risk, high-reward mechanic: allowing them to draw two cards immediately in exchange for skipping their next two draw phases. This creates a strategic tension that has kept the card relevant in various combo-oriented deck builds for over two decades.

The version from Retro Pack 2, numbered RP02-EN071, was released as a common rarity reprint. Retro Pack 2 served to make older, iconic, or utility-focused cards accessible to a new generation of players. The card’s artwork, featuring a greedy character reaching for gold, reflects the thematic trade-off defined by its effect, and it remains a staple piece for collectors interested in the evolution of card advantage mechanics.
