Scapegoat

The Scapegoat card was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game during the early years of the franchise, serving as a tactical staple that allowed players to summon four Sheep Tokens to the field. This specific iteration, HL05-EN006, was released as part of the Hobby League series, a program designed by Konami to incentivize participation in local card shop tournaments. By offering exclusive, shiny versions of existing cards, the Hobby League helped cultivate a sense of prestige within regional gaming communities during the mid-2000s.

The design of this Hobby League variant features the characteristic Ultra Rare gold-lettering treatment applied to the card name, distinguishing it from the standard common versions found in early starter decks. The card artwork depicts four stylized sheep, maintaining the whimsical yet functional aesthetic established by the original Japanese OCG releases. While the game’s meta-environment has shifted significantly over time, the Scapegoat design remains a classic example of early spell card utility, prized by players for its iconic role in defensive strategies and tribute summons.
