Where it came from
Scapegoat was first introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in 2004 as part of the Labyrinth of Nightmare set. Designed as a quick-play spell card, it allowed players to summon four Sheep Tokens to the field in exchange for the inability to summon other monsters for the turn. This defensive utility made it a staple in early competitive play, often used to absorb direct attacks or provide tributes for high-level monsters.
The Ultimate Rare version released in OTS Tournament Pack 8 features the distinct, high-quality etched foiling characteristic of Konami's tournament-exclusive printings. While the original artwork by the Yu-Gi-Oh! design team remained constant, the shift to this premium rarity catered to collectors and competitive players alike who sought to upgrade the aesthetic of their decks with tournament-legal, limited-availability cards.
