Traptrix Myrmeleo was first introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in 2013 as part of the Shadow Specters set, later appearing as a Super Rare in Astral Pack Six. The Traptrix archetype is themed around carnivorous pitcher plants and insectoid creatures, playing on the concept of 'trap' lures. The card was designed to function as the archetype's primary searcher, allowing players to add a 'Hole' normal trap card to their hand upon being summoned, which established the engine's core utility.
