Provenance

Where it came from

U.A. Signing Deal was released in the 2015 set Crossed Souls, a booster expansion for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. It belongs to the Ultra Athletes (U.A.) archetype, a series of cards centered on a sports-themed aesthetic where monster cards represent different athletic positions. This particular spell card was designed to provide crucial field support by allowing players to special summon a U.A. monster from their deck at the cost of sacrificing a currently controlled monster, effectively representing a substitution play in professional athletics.

The visual design of the card captures the fast-paced, high-stakes nature of professional scouting and contract negotiations. Illustrated with the typical stylistic flair of the Konami design team, the artwork reflects the series' commitment to bridging the gap between team-based sports dynamics and tactical card gameplay. Upon its release, it was well-received by players seeking to optimize the consistency of their Ultra Athlete decks, as it provided a reliable way to bring key high-level cards into play without waiting to draw them directly.
