Provenance

Where it came from

U.A. Signing Deal was introduced in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as part of the OTS Tournament Pack 14, released in late 2020. The card belongs to the U.A. (Ultra Athlete) archetype, a series of Earth-attribute Warrior monsters designed around the theme of professional sports stars. This specific card serves as a thematic support piece, depicting the scouting and contract negotiation process inherent in the sports world that the archetype parodies.

The artwork for the U.A. archetype was developed by Konami’s design team to blend the aesthetics of classic Japanese trading card game tropes with the exaggerated stylings of team-based sports. Upon its release in the OTS Tournament Pack, a line specifically distributed to hobby stores for organized play, the card was notable for its shift to a Super Rare rarity. It was received by the community as a vital consistency tool, allowing players to bridge gaps in their deck by special summoning U.A. monsters directly from the deck.
