Provenance

Where it came from

Veil of Darkness was introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as part of the Destiny Soldiers booster set, released internationally in late 2016. This set focused heavily on the legacy of the Destiny HERO archetype, which originated from the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX animated series. The card was designed to support DARK-attribute decks, specifically those utilizing draw-power mechanics by allowing players to reveal and discard DARK monsters for a chance to draw extra cards during their draw phase.

The card features artwork consistent with the aesthetic of the Destiny HERO series, characterized by a dark, gothic, and high-tech visual style. As a super-rare card within the Destiny Soldiers set, it was intended to serve as a utility piece for niche tactical decks rather than a competitive staple. While the card provides an interesting risk-reward dynamic for dedicated players, it has historically remained a more functional curiosity within the broader scope of the trading card game's extensive library of spell cards.
